Quartz, the London wealth app, signed a content licensing partnership with Finimize on 3 November 2026 so that Charlie, Quartz’s AI-powered personal banker, can use Finimize’s investing news and analysis to answer UK members’ questions, flag news about their holdings and curate reading lists, according to the companies’ announcement. Quartz launched in the UK on 16 September 2026 with a £2.75 million pre-seed round led by Daphni and is registered with the FCA as an Account Information Service Provider, tech.eu reported, a permission that covers reading customers’ account data rather than giving regulated investment advice, Fintechbits notes. The Quartz Finimize release gives no financial terms.
What the Quartz Finimize partnership does
Quartz pulls a member’s pensions, ISAs, savings and investments into one app and pairs them with Charlie. Under the deal, Charlie draws on Finimize content to answer questions “with up-to-date context,” flag relevant news about a member’s holdings and build reading lists around portfolios and goals. Finimize will also promote an educational guide to its UK subscribers, and Quartz took part in Finimize’s Modern Investor Summit in 2026.
André Silva, co-founder and chief executive of Quartz, said Finimize’s audience is “exactly the kind of curious, engaged retail investors Quartz is built for.” Carl Hazeley, chief executive of Finimize, said retail investors are “increasingly comfortable using AI-powered tools to get the insights they need.”
Who is behind Quartz
Silva was previously head of global expansion at Revolut, and co-founder Mateus Mesquita Alves was an investment product lead at N26, according to tech.eu. The pre-seed round included Outward VC and K Fund, and angels including Kantox founder Philippe Gelis. Quartz was admitting members from a UK waitlist when it launched.
Finimize is the bigger name in the deal. It says it has more than 1 million members and that more than 350 financial institutions use Finimize for Business to provide content to their own customers. For Finimize, Quartz is one more licensing client; for Quartz, Finimize supplies credibility an app launched in September 2026 cannot build alone.
The advice line
The phrase “personal banker” carries weight in UK finance. An Account Information Service Provider permission lets Quartz read account data with a customer’s consent. It does not, on its own, authorise investment advice or arranging deals. That puts a ceiling on what Charlie can do: explain news, summarise holdings and point to articles, rather than tell a member what to buy or sell. Licensed third-party content helps keep Charlie on the information side of that line. The Quartz Finimize content gives Charlie something sourced to say about a member’s holdings without crossing into recommendations.
Fintechbits analysis
Why the Quartz Finimize deal is a sensible, limited step
Licensing trusted content is the right move for an AI assistant that must not invent market commentary, and Finimize’s tone suits beginner investors. But it also shows how far Quartz is from the product its name implies. Fintechbits has examined how money apps can move from dashboards to real guidance, and the jump from information to personal recommendation is where regulation bites. Better-funded AI wealth platforms such as Nevis, which raised a $70 million Series B in October, Fintechbits reported, sell to regulated advisers instead of going direct to consumers.

What to watch next
The marker after the Quartz Finimize deal is Quartz’s regulatory perimeter. An application for investment or advice permissions on the FCA Register would show it plans to turn Charlie into a true adviser; staying an Account Information Service Provider would mean Charlie remains an informed explainer. Member numbers beyond the invite-only waitlist would show whether the Finimize audience converts.
