Fintechbits covers financial technology: how money moves, who is building the infrastructure it moves on, and what regulators decide about both. This page sets out what we cover, what we rely on, who is accountable for what appears here, and what happens when we get something wrong.
What we cover
Payments and the rails underneath them, digital banking and the licences that permit it, lending and credit underwriting, business payments and spend management, crypto and stablecoins where they touch regulated institutions, fraud and identity, wealth technology, and the software and data vendors that sell to financial firms. Regulation and mergers and acquisitions are covered as events that cut across all of those.
We do not cover general markets, consumer personal finance, or technology outside financial services. Where a story reaches into those areas it is covered only for what it changes inside financial services.
What we publish from
Coverage is built from primary sources: company announcements and newsroom releases, wire distributions, regulatory filings, supervisory publications and enforcement notices, earnings materials and the documents attached to them.
Articles link out to those documents so a reader can check the claim against the source rather than against us, and an article names the specific documents it drew on.
Other outlets' coverage is not a source. Where another publication reported something first and it matters, we say so and attribute it, but a second-hand account is never the basis for a claim of fact here. Sourcing and methodology sets out what counts as a primary source in more detail.
Accuracy and what we will not assert
Figures, dates, company names and regulatory references are taken from the source document rather than reproduced from other coverage. Where a number is disclosed we give it; where it is not disclosed, we say it is not disclosed rather than estimating one.
Where a story rests on a claim we cannot verify against a document, the article attributes it to whoever made it and says what is not established. Unconfirmed reports are labelled as unconfirmed.
Bylines and accountability
Articles carry a named byline linking to that author's profile, where their background is published. Fintechbits is founded and run by Marvin Evans, who is responsible for everything published here.
Nothing is published automatically. Every article is reviewed by a person before it goes live.
Independence
Coverage decisions are not sold. Advertising and any commercial arrangement have no bearing on whether a company is covered or on what an article says, and any sponsored or paid placement is labelled as such where it appears.
Fintechbits is operated alongside Finjobsly, a fintech job board run by the same owner. Where coverage touches Finjobsly or its data, that relationship is disclosed in the article.
Corrections
We correct errors of fact promptly and in the open. The corrections policy explains how to report one and what we do about it.
Not investment advice
Nothing on Fintechbits is financial, investment, legal or tax advice, and it is not a recommendation to buy or sell anything. See the disclaimer.
