BitGo, the NYSE-listed digital asset custodian, launched BitGo Global Markets on 4 November 2026, an institutional business combining execution, prime financing, collateral management, derivatives, asset management and research, led by Pete Janney, who joined from NYDIG, according to the announcement. Fintechbits checked BitGo’s 22 October announcement with Kalshi, which made BitGo Bank & Trust the first custodian in a network letting customers fund fiat margin with crypto without selling it, the same collateral business Global Markets now packages. BitGo Global Markets builds on its purchase of NYDIG’s institutional and trading business.
What BitGo Global Markets Adds
BitGo’s core business is custody. Global Markets moves it into the trades its clients make with those assets: block trading through its liquidity layer, loans against digital asset collateral, margin monitoring, options and swaps for eligible counterparties. Chief executive Mike Belshe said the unit lets BitGo “support more complex institutional strategies”. Janney said clients want help “putting idle assets to work, hedging exposure, or accessing liquidity without selling”.
That puts BitGo closer to crypto prime brokers such as Coinbase and FalconX, which already bundle custody with trading and credit. Fintechbits has covered Kalshi’s wider push in prediction markets, one of the venues where BitGo’s collateral role already shows up.
BitGo Global Markets sits on top of BitGo’s regulated plumbing: qualified custody, trading connectivity and its Go Network for clearing and settlement. BitGo also owns BitGo Bank & Trust, which it describes as the first federally chartered digital asset trust bank owned by a publicly traded company. That charter is what lets it act as custodian in arrangements such as the Kalshi margin network. The launch follows BitGo Labs, a research unit announced on 21 October, and comes five days before BitGo reports third-quarter results on 9 November, when investors can ask how much revenue the new unit is expected to add.
