iGMS Safely insurance went live as an announcement on July 21, 2026, embedding reservation-based damage and liability coverage directly into the Vancouver-based property management platform. Hosts enroll, select coverage, and file claims without leaving the app. Protection attaches to each active reservation rather than sitting in a separate annual policy.

What the iGMS Safely Insurance Integration Covers

Tying coverage to the reservation rather than the calendar year matches how short-term rental risk behaves. Exposure moves with every guest, every stay length, and every gap in a booking calendar, so a per-reservation structure prices closer to the actual risk than a flat annual policy does.

Mark Neville, chief executive of Atlanta-based Safely, framed the goal as “removing friction and making it simple to access coverage on every reservation.” Ivan Levchenko, chief executive of iGMS, positioned it as another reason for independent operators to run everything from one platform. Both descriptions are accurate and neither is surprising.

The iGMS Safely Insurance Partnership Is Not New

One piece of history the release omits. These two companies announced a partnership in September 2021, when trade coverage noted Safely working with Hostaway, Wheelhouse, OwnerRez, LMPM, Barefoot, and Hostfully, while iGMS had separately teamed with InsuraGuest.

So the iGMS Safely insurance arrangement is a deepening rather than a first meeting, and embedding into property management systems is Safely’s entire distribution model rather than a novel experiment. That context supports reading this as routine embedded plumbing, which is the correct read. It also means the product has been sold through comparable channels for years.

What the $325 Billion Behind iGMS Safely Insurance Means

Safely says it has provided over $325 billion in insurance coverage across more than seven million guest nights since 2017. Handle the two iGMS Safely insurance figures differently.

Coverage provided is a sum of policy limits. It measures the maximum theoretical exposure written, not premiums collected, claims paid, or losses absorbed. A company writing a million policies with a $1 million limit each can claim a trillion dollars in coverage while having paid out very little. The number tells you almost nothing about solvency or claims behavior, and it is the largest figure any insurer in this position can quote about itself.

Seven million guest nights is the useful metric. That is real transaction volume and it establishes operating history. Better still, and unmentioned in the release, Greenlight Re Innovations took an equity stake in SafelyStay in October 2022, part of Greenlight Capital Re, which is publicly traded. A listed reinsurer putting capital into the underwriter is stronger evidence of claims-paying capability than any aggregate limits figure.

Who iGMS Safely Insurance Is Built For

Here the release contradicts itself, which is worth flagging because it changes the market size. Levchenko describes iGMS as built for hosts and managers running from 1 to more than 50 properties. The company boilerplate in the same document describes the platform as purpose-built for managers overseeing two to nineteen properties.

Those are very different segments. The gap matters because the value of iGMS Safely insurance depends heavily on which one is right. A one-property host has the strongest case for embedded coverage, since shopping specialty insurance alone is exactly the chore that gets skipped. A fifty-property manager likely has a broker and a master policy already.

The Honest Read on iGMS Safely Insurance

This remains a sensible, low-drama move, and that is a compliment. Independent hosts are a fragmented market the big managers and hotel chains never have to serve. They juggle bookings, pricing, cleaning, and guest vetting without an insurance background, and buying damage and liability cover separately is precisely the task handled late or badly. Putting it at the point of booking, inside software already open every day, is a real design decision rather than a gimmick.

The release says nothing about price, and price determines whether any of this works for hosts. Embedded distribution earns its place only when it is competitive with shopping direct, whether through a specialty short-term rental insurer or a broader landlord policy. Independent hosts run tight margins and read their line items. Convenience loses the moment it becomes a markup on the premium.

What to Watch on iGMS Safely Insurance Next

Waiting for the companies to discuss pricing alongside enrollment figures will probably go nowhere, since neither is obliged to publish either number.

A sharper test is available immediately, and Safely’s multi-platform strategy is what enables it. The same underwriter sells through Hostaway, OwnerRez, Hostfully, and others. Any host with access to two of those systems can price identical coverage across both. If the quote is the same everywhere, distribution is not being taxed and the iGMS Safely insurance proposition is straightforwardly good. If iGMS-embedded coverage costs more than the same product bought through another partner or direct, the convenience carries a fee, and independent operators will find it quickly. Watch the host forums rather than the press releases.
