Mastercard reported third-quarter 2026 net revenue of $9.8 billion, up 14%, net income of $4.6 billion and diluted earnings per share of $5.28 on 29 October 2026, according to its Mastercard Q3 2026 earnings release filed with the SEC. In the results, chief executive Michael Miebach pointed to the Global Money Platform built on BVNK, which Fintechbits covered on 16 October 2026 when Mastercard put BVNK’s stablecoin stack behind a single API. Gross dollar volume rose 7% and purchase volume 9% on a local currency basis.

What drove Mastercard’s quarter

Operating income rose 16% to $5.9 billion and the operating margin widened to 59.8% from 58.8%. Adjusted diluted earnings per share were $5.31. Miebach tied the quarter to “more Mastercard credentials in more hands” and to agentic commerce, alongside BVNK, which Mastercard finished buying in August. Revenue grew twice as fast as gross dollar volume, so Mastercard is earning more on each dollar it carries. Visa, its closest rival, has been adding stablecoin prefunding to Visa Direct.
