ConnexPay, the Plano, Texas payments company that links customer payments to supplier payouts, expanded its technology partnership with German travel software provider MIDOCO on 6 October 2026. The ConnexPay MIDOCO integration is an API connection that lets travel agencies, travel management companies, tour operators and online travel agencies accept customer payments and issue supplier virtual cards inside MIDOCO’s mid- and back-office software, according to the joint release.

How the ConnexPay MIDOCO integration works

A travel booking sets off a chain of payment tasks. The agency captures the traveller’s payment, pays the hotel, airline or tour supplier, and then reconciles both sides in its accounting system. MIDOCO’s software already automates the post-booking side, covering orders, invoices, reconciliation, supplier settlement and the accounting entries. The ConnexPay MIDOCO integration adds the money movement itself: payment acceptance from the customer and virtual card issuance for suppliers, all inside the same workflow.

Globespan Travel Management already uses both companies. Its president, Daniel Moretta, said each card payment “remains tied to its corresponding booking from the moment the transaction occurs,” which he said cuts manual work and reconciliation complexity. ConnexPay chief executive Ben Peters and Midoco Group chief executive Steffen Faradi both framed the deal around simpler payment flows for travel companies.

Why the back office is the right place for payments

Travel has long been one of the biggest markets for virtual cards. Agencies pay hotels and suppliers with single-use card numbers, which limits fraud and ties each payment to a booking. The issuer also earns interchange, part of which is usually shared with the agency. The difficulty is operational. When payments run in one system and booking records in another, finance teams spend hours matching them. Building payments into the back-office software where reconciliation already happens removes much of that work.

ConnexPay’s model adds a working capital angle. The company says it connects customer payments to supplier payouts in real time, so the money a traveller pays can fund the supplier’s virtual card without the agency fronting the cash. For a small agency or tour operator, that is often worth more than the interchange. ConnexPay says it issues more than $12 billion a year, and it has been building travel-specific services, including a managed hotel payment service for travel management companies.

Why distribution through software matters here

The ConnexPay MIDOCO integration is a distribution deal as much as a technology one. MIDOCO, based in Hamburg, sells to travel companies internationally, and each client that switches on ConnexPay adds payment volume without a separate sales process. The same logic drives other payments companies to embed inside the software their customers already use, from spend management to accounts payable, as Fintechbits noted when Emburse brought its AP automation to smaller teams. Virtual cards are also moving into new areas, including Corpay’s cards for AI agents.

The open question is geography. The release does not say whether the integration works for MIDOCO clients in Europe as well as in North America, and virtual card economics and supplier acceptance differ by market. If the product is mainly available to US agencies, its reach inside MIDOCO’s client base is narrower than the announcement suggests.

What to Watch Next on the ConnexPay MIDOCO Integration

Look for further named joint customers, especially European travel management companies, and for any statement on which countries the integration covers. A second signal is volume: if ConnexPay starts reporting how much of its annual issuance runs through software partners like MIDOCO, it will show whether embedded distribution is working. Until then, nobody outside the two companies can say how much volume the integration carries.
