Dateline: TreviPay and Walmart Business, product availability, 21 October 2026

TreviPay, the B2B payments and credit company, said on 21 October 2026 that Walmart Business Pay By Invoice is generally available to eligible customers, giving organisations net 30 day terms, a dedicated business line of credit and itemised invoicing online and in Walmart stores. Fintechbits compared the release with TreviPay’s 16 September 2025 launch of Walmart Business Pay By Invoice for a select group of customers, when TreviPay cited more than $8 billion in global trade; 13 months later it cites more than $10 billion, but gives no count of Walmart Business customers enrolled and no credit limit range.

The Pay By Invoice program is open to more buyers than in 2025, but the release does not say how many have signed up.

What Walmart Business Pay By Invoice offers

Walmart Business Pay By Invoice lets eligible organisations buy now and pay within 30 days on a credit line that TreviPay manages, according to the TreviPay release on BusinessWire. Purchasing controls let several staff buy under one account while an owner or finance lead keeps oversight, and purchases, invoices, payments, returns and refunds sit in one place for reconciliation.

The release pitches it at schools and universities that need records across departments, nonprofits tracking grant-funded spending, public bodies with procurement and audit rules, and small businesses that want 30 days to pay for stock. During the initial rollout, TreviPay says Walmart Business customers gave the program a 90% satisfaction score.

“Business buyers need payment choice, purchasing controls and terms that align with how their organizations manage cash flow,” said Brandon Spear, chief executive of TreviPay.

TreviPay also cites its own research finding that 51% of business buyers would switch merchants if another provider offered more flexible net terms.

The Pay By Invoice rules the release leaves out

Walmart Business’s own Pay By Invoice help page sets conditions the release does not mention. Organisations must have been in business for at least 24 months to be approved, and the application has to be started by the account’s Primary Admin. The same page says there is no cost to apply and no interest or fees on invoices paid within 30 days.

The 24-month rule shuts out the newest small businesses, which are often the buyers that most need 30 days of float on inventory. “Generally available” here means available to established organisations that pass TreviPay’s credit decision.

The release also gives no credit limit range, no late payment terms and no figure for how many organisations joined during the pilot. The 90% satisfaction score has no sample size.

Fintechbits analysis

Why Pay By Invoice at Walmart scale is a test for embedded B2B credit

Industrial suppliers and office wholesalers have offered net terms at checkout for decades, so the product itself is familiar. Walmart Business Pay By Invoice is interesting because of the merchant behind it. A retailer with Walmart’s reach putting a managed credit line in front of business buyers, in stores as well as online, is a bigger distribution test for embedded B2B credit than most specialist sellers can offer.

The 13 months from limited launch to general availability suggests TreviPay and Walmart took the credit side seriously. Net terms are unsecured short-term lending, and the losses show up only after invoices go unpaid. A slow rollout points to underwriting that was checked before it was widened.

The program also sits in a crowded field. Accounts payable platforms such as BILL, which Fintechbits covered as it passed $2 trillion in cumulative payment volume, and vendor financing tools such as Capchase’s Mila all compete to fund the gap between when a business buys and when it pays. For Walmart Business purchases, TreviPay sits at the checkout and offers that credit before a rival tool gets the chance, which Fintechbits sees as the main commercial advantage of the arrangement.

What to Watch Next

TreviPay hosts its Crossroads B2B payments conference in Kansas City on 8 to 10 November 2026, with Walmart Business among the brands attending. Any figure there on enrolled organisations, average credit lines or the share of Walmart Business sales paid by invoice would show whether Pay By Invoice is a niche option or a real lending book.

Why this matters

Fintechbits compared TreviPay’s releases and found Walmart Business Pay By Invoice moved from a select group in September 2025 to general availability 13 months later, while TreviPay’s trade figure rose from more than $8 billion to more than $10 billion. Neither release gives an enrolment count or credit limits, and Walmart’s help page adds a 24-month trading rule. The program tests embedded B2B credit at retail scale. Its main risk is credit losses that only show after invoices fall due.
