Lumin Digital, the San Ramon, California digital banking provider for banks and credit unions, commercially launched Lumin Signal on 6 October 2026. Lumin Signal tracks how retail and business users move through the Lumin platform and lets institutions respond with in-app guides and surveys, according to the company’s release. It is set up out of the box on more than 100 pages and 700 features.

What Lumin Signal does

Banks have always known what users do in digital banking: log in, pay a bill, deposit a check. The new tool measures how they get there. It tracks feature adoption, the paths users take through a session, where they drop out of a process and how many come back. Results appear in pre-built dashboards with eight audience segments, including breakdowns by account tenure, so an institution does not need a data team to read them.

The second half of the product lets staff act on what they see. Administrators can build walkthroughs, tooltips, onboarding flows and announcements inside the app from the same interface without an engineering release, and add short in-app surveys. Features are already tagged with banking terms such as Positive Pay, Remote Deposit Capture, Skip-A-Pay and Stop Payment. It sits alongside Lumin Analytics, which shows transaction-level activity for individual users, and the two are sold separately.

Why Lumin Signal fills a gap for small institutions

Software companies have used product analytics tools for years. Community banks and credit unions mostly have not, because their digital banking runs on a vendor’s platform that they cannot easily instrument. A credit union that wants to know why members abandon a remote deposit, or why few use a feature it pays for, usually has to ask the vendor or guess. Lumin’s tool gives those institutions the data and a way to act on it inside the same product.

That matters because digital adoption is one of the few levers a small institution controls. Chief Product and Technology Officer Sean Weadock said the product helps clients “generate more value for the capabilities they already have.” For a credit union paying for features that members never find, that is a concrete saving.

Why the $540,000 figure needs a caveat

Lumin’s release gives one dollar example. A single eStatement adoption guide that moves 15% of an institution’s 100,000 paper-statement accounts to electronic statements “could be worth roughly $540,000 a year.” That works out to about $36 a year for each converted account, or $3 a month in printing and postage. It is a plausible cost assumption, but it is a model, not a result from a client, and most community institutions have far fewer than 100,000 accounts.

Lumin has a commercial motive too. Each tool a bank adopts inside Lumin, from analytics to engagement tools, makes it harder to move to another digital banking provider later. Lumin has been signing new clients, including a Kentucky community bank, Eclipse Bank, and building connections such as its open banking link with MX.

What to Watch Next on Lumin Signal

The test is whether a named credit union or bank reports results from Lumin Signal, such as a measurable increase in eStatement or mobile deposit adoption after running guides. If Lumin can publish real conversion figures in 2027, its pitch to boards about digital banking return on investment becomes far stronger. If the only numbers remain illustrations, Lumin Signal will look like a useful feature rather than a reason to choose Lumin.

Questions and answers

What is Lumin Signal?

Lumin Signal is a behavioral analytics and engagement tool that Lumin Digital launched on 6 October 2026. It tracks how users move through the Lumin digital banking platform and lets institutions publish in-app guides and surveys.

How much is Lumin Signal worth to a credit union?

Lumin Digital’s own example says one eStatement guide converting 15% of 100,000 paper-statement accounts could be worth about $540,000 a year. That figure is an illustration, not a reported client result.

Does Lumin Signal replace Lumin Analytics?

No. Lumin Digital says Lumin Analytics shows transaction-level activity for individual users, while Lumin Signal shows how the wider user base experiences the platform, and the two can be bought separately.
