Fintechbits analysis
Why this week’s moves matter
Q2’s change is the structural one. Jonathan A. Price becomes Co-Chief Executive Officer alongside Matthew P. Flake, who stays President and Chairman, and Price keeps the finance job until a new CFO is hired. Fintechbits covered the move with Q2’s third-quarter results.
That leaves two senior seats open. Nu has started a search for a permanent Chief Technology Officer, with David Vélez directly overseeing Global Platforms until it finds one, and Q2 is looking for a CFO.
Only one of the three board appointments comes from payments. Raj Seshadri held senior Mastercard roles from 2016 and joins Fiserv, whose merchant business Fintechbits covered in the Klarna Commerce Hub deal. Nasdaq and Better went outside financial services: Börje Ekholm ran Ericsson, and Linda Yaccarino ran X Corp before eMed.
How this list is compiled
Fintech people moves count when the announcement or filing date falls inside the week. We include C-suite, president, division head and board appointments, departures the company has announced, and job cuts of 100 roles or more. Nothing comes from rumours, profile changes or other roundups. This week’s search covered SEC 8-K and 6-K filings for fintech, payments and financial infrastructure companies.
